Robert Rossi graduated from Dartmouth College in 1973, and received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1976.

He began his legal career as a staff attorney with the Federal Trade Commission, and afterwards was an Assistant District Attorney in the Appellate Division of the District Attorney’s Office in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Since 1983 he has been an attorney in private practice, and is principally engaged in general civil and appellate practice. In his public and private appellate practice has drafted briefs and/or presented oral arguments in over 50 criminal and civil cases in the state and federal courts.

Since 1990 he has also worked extensively as a freelance author writing for several legal publishing companies. He authored several revised chapters of Weinstein’s Evidence, and has written revisions and supplements to several books published by West Publishing, including Aviation Tort Law, Comparative Negligence Manual, Recovery for Wrongful Death, Expert Witnesses in Civil Trials, Res Ipsa Loquitur, and Handling Motor Vehicle Accident Cases.

Mr. Rossi has also developed an expertise on the subject of attorneys’ fees.  He is the author of Attorneys’ Fees (2d edition), published by Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Co. in 1995, and Attorneys’ Fees (3d edition), published by West Group in 2001. He has also consulted and/or provided expert testimony in state and federal court on the subject of attorneys’ fees for attorneys in Massachusetts, California, Illinois, Wisconsin, New York, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Mr. Rossi is admitted to practice in Maine, and lives and works in Portland, Maine.  He has also been admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and California, and is also admitted to the First, Second, Fourth, Sixth, and District of Columbia Circuits of the United States Court of Appeals, and to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
